I stick my tongue out at the Government :P

I can’t believe that it’s already the first of March. Holy Grasshopper Batman!
Currently, I’m still in the waiting game.
Waiting to sell my car, waiting to purchase a new one, and waiting to hear from a park to get a job.

I am also going insane with where I work; don’t get me wrong, I love the people, and I am so thankful I have a job right now. What’s been rough is the fact that I’m stuck in a little cubicle, scanning scanning scanning scanning scanning, and scanning papers. Did I mention scanning? Haha! πŸ™‚ It’s just frustrating for me, to not be outside, exploring, and showing and experiencing those places with people. I finally have found the job that I love, (National Park Ranger), and I can’t do it quite yet. Ha.

Now I would like to say that I am “well informed” with the workings of the government, but I don’t think that is an even possible thing to say! Haha! But you may be wondering, how does this sequester affect me and my friends? Well, it’s not a positive thing for sure! It all depends on how long it takes for Congress to agree on a budget, and how much they plan on cutting the Park Service. Right now, or soon, parks are going to begin to close, and not open until weeks after they usually open. Many permanent rangers are going to be laid off temporarily, and many accommodations such as bathrooms, visitor centers, will be closed at different times due to not enough funds to run them or keep them clean.
It’s quite devastating.

I don’t plan on hearing from a park for at least another couple weeks, and hopefully I am wrong! The sooner the better, but it all depends on the budget. So many of us are now worried, and wondering what we should do instead.
Unfortunately, I am a ocd nerd, who has decided that I want to stick with the National Park Service until there is no longer a National Park Service. Haha! I don’t have any other options because this is all that I want, my dream career! Silly way to think, I know, but I can’t help it. I truly believe in America’s Best Idea. ❀ πŸ™‚

What am I doing right now to prepare? Not really much, I did my part, applied, sent in my resume, showed interest into the positions. Now I need to prepare to leave to head to a job as quickly as I possibly could. Which means I have to go through all my belongings and figure out what I need to pack, and what I need to store. (I’m procrastinating that right now, haha)

One thing this career choice has taught me is that hard work does pay off. Just like a farmer must first plow, fertilize, and then plant the seed to prepare for the rain, you need to do the work to prepare for your goals and dreams. And when they come, just don’t let them pass you by; grab them, and work even harder at them! The rewards will be worth it.
