Tonight, at 8:30 pm, many people will be turning off their lights for the Earth!
Earth Hour is an amazing idea (at least to me anyways) about helping people come together about taking care of this wonderful planet that we live on. 🙂
All it’s asking is if you, and your family, could turn your lights off at 8:30PM local time, for an hour.
That’s all you gotta do. Just turn off your lights, your tv, your computer, your radio. Simple.
How would that help?
“There is no doubt about it: the world is facing some of the most critical environmental challenges in its history. That may make the journey to a sustainable future seem difficult to imagine, but it is far from impossible. Change this big needs you. It needs every one of us. Together our individual actions add up to make a difference collectively. In fact, change is already underway.”
What else could you do, if you know, you’re kinda addicted to those tv’s and computer’s?
Easy peasy, maybe try to begin recycling your trash at home.
You could try to eat at least one vegetarian meal a week.
Maybe work in your community and help plant and take care of parks.
Plant a tree in your yard. (Make sure its native to your environment!)
Unplug any appliance that is not in use.
Try to create a carpool at least once a week.
Create your own reusable bags for groceries and shopping.
The list could go on forever, and on the website is a lot more ideas.
So check out Earth Hour !
